ROMA @ I Birthday and ROMA Transtiberim (Oct 07)
From ROMA Scribae
[[ This is the first part of a submission for Archaeolog archaeology blog (archaeology.org), but was too long so was much much cut down for the first part of an interview Torin did there. The uncut version here gives a good creator’s history of ROMA. ]]
Torin Golding:
"In October 2007, ROMA celebrated its first birthday with a weeklong festival (“ROMA @ I”). Part of that celebration included the announcement that I was adding a third sim to the estate. Named ROMA Transtiberim (‘Across the Tiber’), it was joined to the north of the main ROMA sim beyond a continuation of ROMA’s river. It was intended to provide two main things for the estate: 1) an external ‘settlement’, called Ostia, where we could house the groups who had made headquarters in the Subura (and free up residential plots by moving them to Ostia), and 2) a non-urban landscape sim where I could build non-urban attractions and explore the meaning of landscapes in Roman heritage."
